Aviation Leasing
Purchasing and Leasing Commercial Aircraft to Carriers Across the Globe.
AB CarVal has a 30-year track record investing in the aviation industry.
We believe owning a global portfolio of airplanes—hard assets with intrinsic value—and leasing them to carriers in need is an effective way to get aviation exposure. There are fewer than 30,000 commercial jets in operation today, and about half are leased. It is a scalable opportunity, and risk can be segmented across aircraft type and vintage as well as capital structure.
AB CarVal focuses on investments in fleet types with a high unit count, young average fleet age, high operator dispersion and a high in-service ratio. Likewise, we seek stable lessee profiles and emphasize a high component of contractual lease cash flow.
While commercial demand recovery is well underway, supply is structurally constrained. We believe this fundamental demand dynamic will continue long term given global population forecasts that translate into demand for new aircraft over the next 20 years, all of which must be financed. Executing these strategies successfully requires robust sourcing and strong management capabilities.
